Urge Governor Brown to Sign AB 823
Status: Completed
Earlier this week, Governor Brown vetoed Assembly Bill 823, which would have created the California Children's Coordinating Council to focus on improving the efficiency and integration of health, education, and other developmental support services for kids.
The Children's Movement of California's efforts behind AB 823 led to the bill passing the Legislature. While the Governor's veto is frustrating, the support behind the bill has already led a number of key state leaders to explore alternatives with us to bring it to life in the near term.
It's clear that prioritizing the coordination of services at the state level (such as school-based health and school meal programs) would strengthen kids' outcomes and the state's return on investment in them.
We'll keep you updated on the issue as it continues to develop.
